Hosting, a managed cloud service provider, has acquired Stelligent for an undisclosed sum. Stelligent is a provider of DevOps automation tools for Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The terms of the acquisition were announced Tuesday by the companies. Stelligent Co-Founders Rob Daly, and Paul Duvall will join Hosting as vice presidents of public cloud consulting, and chief technology officer, respectively. Hosting will continue to operate Stelligent, a division based in Reston, Va.
Stelligent was founded in 2007 and has been an AWS Partner Network Advanced Consulting Partner since 2013. It has exclusively focused on AWS solutions ever since. Its core business is DevOps automation services, which provide AWS developers with continuous and “one click” deployment capabilities.
Hosting is a Denver-based MSP and professional service firm that has been around for 20 years. It has over 2,000 customers across the globe. It offers managed cloud services that support AWS and Microsoft Azure among other vendors. They are available in public, private, and hybrid cloud configurations.
Both companies see the deal as mutually beneficial. Stelligent gains a better proposition for its customers through piggybacking Hosting’s managed service, while Hosting gains the benefit of Stelligent’s DevOps expertise in order to boost its offerings, especially its Hosting Unified Cloud platform.
“The market we operate in is rapidly maturing. Stelligent customers have asked us for managed services over the years. This includes security and compliance monitoring. Stelligent stated in its FAQ that the demand is substantial. We realized that we didn’t have the resources and capabilities to extend our operations in the right way. The way we want it to be and the way our customers expect it to be. We will be able expand our offerings to better service customers and, most importantly to do it right, with HOSTING. Customers will be able to plan, migrate and automate their applications within AWS using our joint offering. It also provides an advanced end-to-end solution that allows them to optimize, secure, and optimize their applications.
Hosting’s FAQ states that “With the Stelligent purchase, we can now offer the superior service and cutting edge solutions we are known to provide throughout the application lifecycle in AWS cloud.” We can now harness the power of the public cloud and automate or fully control many labor-intensive IT tasks for our medium-sized customers and enterprise customers. AWS will reduce the release times, failure costs, security risks, and compliance risks dramatically by having one team and one mission for the entire lifecycle of an application.
Customers were assured by the two companies that there would be no service disruptions from the acquisition, at least not in the immediate future. Hosting stated in its FAQ that there will be no reductions in staff at either company.
